We saw the signs for Greyabbey so decided to take a drive down there on a spare day of our holiday. It was beautiful. So much rich history and the ruins that are left are very well kept. We took a walk around the graveyard also, which although was uneven was peaceful and beautiful. Take time to read all of the information posts and picture what life would have been like for the monks that lived there all those centuries ago.
Beautiful, free to visit, and well maintained! it’s stunning to walk around and experience the sheer size of the abbey, and the graveyard is wonderful to walk around. really great 12th-century architecture
A lovely day of travel around the peninsula and Greyabbey. Such good memories recorded.
Wonderful atmosphere, very peaceful spot. Plenty of room to wander
Visited Grey Abbey on EHOD 2023 and had an excellent guided tour by the volunteer friends of the abbey. Loved it.
Wow nice little spot to stop off on St Patrick's trail. Very well kept and also includes a sensory herb garden at entrance with amazing smelling plants.
The monastery is huge, there are lots of information boards dotted around the monastery too. Lots of space for kids to run about and a couple of picnic benches too. The small museum at the entrance of the site is really good. Definitely worth a visit. There is a carpark beside the site with a very old graveyard.
Beautiful. Abbey much bigger than I had imagined. Good variety of trees. Loads of conkers!
Beautiful little Herb garden, so neat and well kept.
Must go in the Spring to see flowers
